Google Ads for ceramic coating shops

Google Ads for ceramic coating shops, without the spray-bottle shoppers.

Most “ceramic coating” searches aren’t from people looking for an installer. We build campaigns around your coating packages, keep product shoppers out, and report what each booked coating job cost.

The ceramic coating search problem

Ceramic coating is a product aisle and a professional service at the same time. Someone typing “ceramic coating” might want a spray from an auto parts store, a how-to video, a coating for a frying pan, or a shop to do the work. Only the last one pays you.

The job is worth protecting. A 2026 US price guide puts the national average for professional ceramic coating at $1,200 to $2,800, depending on vehicle size, coating longevity and paint correction (Cost Insight Hub). A campaign that can’t tell that buyer from a spray shopper spends your budget on the wrong clicks.

Car washes add to the noise. Some sell a “ceramic” wash add-on, and people search for it with words that look a lot like yours.

Campaign structure by coating tier

We build around the packages on your menu. A typical starting point:

Ad groupExample searchesWhere it landsNotes
Core coatingceramic coating near me · professional ceramic coating · ceramic coating shop [city]Main coating page with tiersThe base of the budget.
Tier & longevity5 year ceramic coating · graphene coating near me · ceramic coating packagesTier comparison sectionMatch durability claims to your product’s real warranty.
New carnew car ceramic coating · ceramic coating new tesla · new car paint protection packageNew car package pageOwners research before delivery. Good moment for PPF + coating bundles.
Correction + coatingpaint correction and ceramic coating · swirl removal and coatingPaint correction pageBigger jobs. Keep separate from coating-only.
Certified brandceramic pro installer · gtechniq accredited detailer · gyeon certifiedPage that shows your certificationOnly if you’re authorized.
Add-onswheel ceramic coating · windshield coating · interior coatingAdd-on sectionUsually upsells with small budgets.
Example structure. Coating bundles with PPF get their own ad group.

Bundles such as “ppf and ceramic coating package” are a separate ad group pointing at your bundle page. Cross-campaign negatives stop coating searches from leaking into the PPF or tint campaigns, and keep “ceramic tint” (a tint search) out of the coating campaign.

Keyword themes by intent

  • Ready to book. “ceramic coating near me”, “ceramic coating [city]”, “ceramic coating shop”, “ceramic coating quote”.
  • Price research. “ceramic coating cost”, “how much is ceramic coating for a car”. Send these to a page with tier prices or ranges.
  • New car. “ceramic coating new car”, “is dealer ceramic coating worth it”. Owners who were just quoted by a dealership. A good page wins them.
  • Comparison. “ceramic coating vs ppf” is research with some buyers in it; lower bids. “ceramic coating vs wax” is mostly DIY; we exclude “wax”.

As with PPF, we launch with exact and phrase match (keyword matching options) and keep broad match for later, once sold jobs flow back into the account.

Negative keywords for coating campaigns

Coating campaigns need more negatives than PPF, because the product market is bigger. A sample:

  • spray
  • bottle
  • wax
  • kit
  • diy
  • how to apply
  • amazon
  • walmart
  • meguiars
  • chemical guys
  • turtle wax
  • cookware
  • pan
  • ceramic tile
  • brake pads
  • exhaust
  • cerakote
  • flat iron
  • teeth
  • car wash
  • ceramic wash
  • tint

Negative keywords only block the exact word you add, not its plural or misspelling (Google Ads Help), so the list includes the variants that show up in real search terms. Get the full CSV in our PPF Google Ads guide.

Landing page checklist for ceramic coating

  • Tiers side by side: prep and correction level, longevity, warranty and a price range.
  • Durability and warranty claims taken from the product you install and its real warranty terms.
  • What prep is included: wash, decontamination, clay, polish, one-step or multi-step correction.
  • Before-and-after photos of your own work, including 50/50 shots on the same panel.
  • Aftercare: what the owner does after, and whether you offer maintenance washes.
  • How long you keep the car.
  • A quote form that asks for vehicle, paint condition (new, good, swirled) and tier.
  • A link to PPF + coating bundles if you sell them.
  • Tap-to-call, hours, address and Google reviews.

We check this in the teardown and before launch. Page rebuilds are scoped separately from ad management.

How we measure: from click to sold job

  1. Every call and form is a conversion in Google Ads. Calls count only past a minimum length, so wrong numbers and robocalls don’t inflate the numbers.
  2. The quote form stores the Google click ID (GCLID) in a hidden field, so each inquiry can be matched to the click that produced it.
  3. Your team marks each coating inquiry once a week: quoted, booked, sold, lost or unknown. A shared Google Sheet works. So does a CRM export.
  4. Booked and sold jobs go back into Google Ads through offline conversion imports or enhanced conversions for leads, so bidding learns from jobs, not form fills.
  5. The weekly report shows cost per booked install for each package and service line, next to what’s still unknown.

Coating jobs often come bundled with PPF or correction. We log the job under the service line that brought the inquiry and show the add-ons next to it, so the coating campaign gets credit for the bundle it started. See the sample report.

Budget and pricing

Agency estimates for ceramic coating put clicks at $3 to $9 and leads at $30 to $80 (Detailers Movement, agency estimates). For a broader benchmark, LocaliQ reports $5.31 per click and $44.26 per lead for auto service and repair advertisers, based on data from October 2024 to September 2025 (LocaliQ). At $3,000 a month, the agency range implies roughly 37 to 100 coating leads. Your close rate decides how many book. Try it in the budget calculator.

Founding Shop Pilot

$1,500/month management for the first 90 days, for the first three US shops. Ad spend from $3,000/month, paid directly to Google in your own account. One shop per metro. We agree a target number of qualified inquiries in writing before launch; if we miss it by day 60, month 3 management is free. After the pilot, it’s month to month at $2,000 to $2,500/month for Google Search.

Questions about ceramic coating campaigns

Should we advertise “ceramic coating” or “paint protection”?

Both, in separate ad groups. People who search “ceramic coating” have usually picked the product. People who search “paint protection” may still be choosing between coating and film, so that traffic lands on a page that explains both and lets them ask for a quote.

Can you advertise our Ceramic Pro, Gtechniq or Gyeon certification?

If you’re authorized, yes. Certified-installer searches get their own ad group. Using the brand name in ad text falls under Google’s trademark policy and the brand’s own rules, which we check before launch.

Dealerships sell coating with new cars. Can we compete?

Yes, with the searches their customers run before delivery: “ceramic coating new car”, “is dealer ceramic coating worth it”. A landing page that fairly compares your package with a typical dealer add-on gives those buyers a reason to call you.

Do we need a separate page for each tier?

No. One strong coating page with a clear tier comparison usually beats three thin pages. Paint correction deserves its own page if you sell it as a separate service.

Is Google or Meta better for ceramic coating?

Google Search first, because it catches people who are already shopping. Meta can help later with before-and-after content and new-car owners, once Search is profitable.
